The clearest measure of Fred Klimas is the gap between his two Skopje summers. At the FIBA U16 EuroBasket Division B in 2024 he averaged 8.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists. In 2025, on the same floor, he was up to 13.9 points and 5.0 rebounds.
Klimas, full name Fryderyk, is a 6 foot guard born on 9 January 2009. He came through the Limerick Lions and plays at Salesians Pallaskenry, where he led the school to the U16 Boys All-Ireland Schools Cup final and top-scored with 20 points in the final.
That bigger test has now come and gone: the FIBA U18 EuroBasket 2026 in Croatia, where he averaged 9.6 points and 3.7 assists as Ireland finished 17th of 22, an improvement on 20th the year before. Beyond that, the pathway carries him towards the Limerick Eagles.
